Orbit

Shows what's currently playing on SiriusXM.

Orbit reads public now-playing data from xmplaylist.com and shows the current track plus a short history. You can star songs and stations, and open a track in YouTube Music. It does not play SiriusXM audio. Phone and Android Auto share the same install: Now Playing, Stations, and Favorites. Skip next/previous changes the channel.

Install

Prefer Google Play. The APK is for sideload. Android will warn you because it didn't come from the store.

1. Google Play: search Orbit or use the Google Play link on this page (package com.gcdsoftware.orbit).
2. Or download orbit.apk from this page.
3. For the APK, allow that app (Chrome, Files, etc.) to install unknown apps: Settings → Apps → Special app access → Install unknown apps.
4. Open the APK and install it.
5. Open Orbit on the phone and pick a station. Auto uses whatever station you last picked.

Android Auto

1. The Play build and the APK both include the car screens.
2. On the phone, open Android Auto: Settings → Apps → Android Auto → Additional settings in the app.
3. Play installs do not need unknown sources. For a sideload APK: About → tap Version (or Version and permission info) ten times, then overflow → Allow unknown sources.
4. Unlock the phone and plug it into the car.
5. Orbit should appear under Apps. Three tabs: Now Playing, Stations, Favorites. It also appears under Media.
6. If the car list is empty, pick a station in the phone app, then go back to the car.
7. Skip next/previous changes the channel. Tapping a song opens YouTube Music. Orbit itself does not play SiriusXM audio.
8. Song-change notifications can also show on the dash when that setting is on.

Is Orbit an official SiriusXM app?

No. Unofficial. Not affiliated with Sirius XM Radio Inc. SiriusXM is not in the app name, icon, or package.

Does Orbit play SiriusXM audio?

No. It shows now playing and recent tracks. Tapping a song opens YouTube Music.

Does Orbit work with Android Auto?

Yes. Same install as the phone app. Three tabs in the car: Now Playing, Stations, Favorites. It also appears under Media.

Where does now-playing data come from?

xmplaylist.com, not from SiriusXM. An optional xmplaylist API key can be set in Settings.
